On August 15, 2021, the Museum of History of Simferopol, located on Pushkin Street — in the center of the Crimean capital, opened an exhibition of artifacts «Through the keyhole of time».

The exposition presents archaeological objects dating back to different eras: from those made BC to those dating from the New Time period.
The author of the project and the organizer of the event — the Crimean collector and traveler Viktor Pinchuk, already known to Simferopol residents and guests of the peninsula for personal photo exhibitions dedicated to exotic countries and their inhabitants.

The exhibition is dedicated to the day of the archaeologist — an unofficial holiday celebrated annually in Russia. And this is not by chance: the presented objects of material culture are directly related to the history and archeology of the country.

These historical items can be conditionally divided into several groups: coins (Panticapeus, Olvia, Istria, Byzantium, Golden Horde, Russian Empire); arrowheads (XI—XIV centuries); copper peasant rings (XVII—XVIII centuries), buttons from uniforms belonging to officers of the Russian Empire. Of particular interest to historians and ordinary visitors to the museum is a unique selection of forged knives used by the Khazars (possibly also Alans and Sarmatians) in the XI—XIV centuries.

The director of the museum, Irina Ivanovna Vdovichenko, opening the exhibition, introduced the author of the project to the visitors.

Viktor Pinchuk described his exhibition:

«My artifact collection, on a global scale of archaeological studies of the cultural heritage of historical Russia — negligible; it does not open the door to our past, but only allows us to look in a glimpse, as if through a keyhole.»
